Malaysia Innovative 2010 (MI2010) is one of the initiatives by MOSTI aimed at increasing awareness and fostering culture of innovation among Malaysians. Recognizing the importance of innovation in today’s economy, Agro-Biotechnology Institute, Malaysia (ABI) has taken the initiative to be involved directly in the exhibition of MI2010 at Dewan 2020 Kangar, Perlis.

MI2010, North Zone, was officially opened by DYTM Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail 's ibni Raja Muda Perlis. Also present at the function was YAB Dato' Seri Dr Md Isa bin Sabu, Perlis Chief Minister. YB Datuk Seri Maximus Johnity Ongkili, Minister of Science Technology and Innovation (MOSTI)  together with MOSTI’s top management, Y.Bhg. Dato' Madinah Mohamad, Secretary-General, Y.Bhg Professor Datin Paduka Dr Khatijah Yusoff, Deputy Secretary-General (Science), Y.Bhg Dato' Dr Sharifah Zaharah, Deputy Secretary-General (Policy) were also present. Several federal and state VIPs were seen during the opening ceremony.

The event was a great success. ABI highlighted a project on ‘Molecular Epidemiology and Control of Streptococcus Infection in Cage-Cultured Freshwater Fishes’ to the public. During the exhibition, a comprehensive display on Streptococcus infection and potential vaccine on Tilapia fish were exhibited which attracted much interest from the public to know more about the development work on the vaccine.
